Hi Zed, I have just, today, come out of hospital after cervical spine surgery. I made a temporary, hasty decision. The Surgeon contacted me on Tuesday to say he wanted me to be in hospital on Wednesday for surgery. With a million things to do and very little time to do it I took the easy, if not the correct way out. I drew $5000 to do some urgent work on my home and rolled the balance over for 12 months. When my brain has had time to to reactivate, and my body has healed I shall tackle it.
Thanks for the interest and support.

Hi Zed
Thx for the links to spoiltgirl's blog/s. It'll probably take me a while to become confident enough to start writing one of my own but it is a very good suggestion that I'll keep revisiting. :0)
My first plan of attack is to read my daily e-newsletters from SIMPLE DOLLAR, PRIME TIME MONEY and GET RICH SLOWLY (not as cheesy as they sound) and log in here a few times a week. I have also signed up for the ASX education enewsletter. If I do this then my finances are always on my mind and I won't just ignore them. I'll also be exposed to a wonderful array of thoughts and opinions. Thx again for the linx and I hope the loan payments for your car are making a huge dint in the debt. :0) Lisa (skippi_oz)

Hey there Zed.
Thx for the comment. I agree the marketing is what gets to us. I tend to be really great for a while then spend some extra time in the car (radio) or in front of the Tv then I blow all the extra I've managed to pay off in one foul swoop.
I've got to admit that when work is full on I also tend to want to do an ostrich impersonation and put my head in the sand when it comes to my finances. I overcommit at work and then actually studying and calculating the best way to deal with my finances falls by the wayside.
Usually its ok but with everything going up and our budget being pretty close, now is when I start to get that awful feeling in the pit of my stomach that I SHOULD be actively doing something better with the money I'm left with after mortgage, essentials, petrol and childcare.
I guess that's the same with most people though.
My credit card has actually allowed me to buy medicine for my son this week so it isn't always used for frivilous stuff.
Sorry :0) Thx for letting me get it out. *grin*

Hi Zed,

Unfortunately not. I have a furniture upholstery & custom ottoman (custom created furniture sculpture) business.

Hi Zed. It honestly just numbs the pain for a bit then logic takes over again and I get frustrated with myself because i know I could use my money better. :0) You live and learn I guess. One day my impulse spending will catch up with my brain.

Cliff Mearns replied to Cliff Mearns's discussion Bankruptcy -v Debt Agreement
"Ben, let's not lose the loop. How financiers view bankruptcy is not relevant to the discussion of an individual's capacity to pay something. Bankruptcy is being utilised as a means of evading debt obligations. "

Bankruptcy ben replied to Cliff Mearns's discussion Bankruptcy -v Debt Agreement
"I agree with the setiment however in reality there's nothing to encourage an individual to make a payment with a Debt Agreement! While technically it's different most financial companies regard it as the same as bankruptcy."
