It does make it tough, but I reckon there are some good opps in the sharemarket with 2009 shaping up to be a cracking year after the market was slammed in 07 & 08. That said, it'll probably be pretty volatile over the next few years. One…

I reckon you're spot on here with point 3 - the increase of protectionism is the nail in the coffin. I thought the whole premise behind the functioning of free markets was that they remained, um, free. But this talk of "Depression"…

I'm with Mary M & Jacquesk - I'm turning off the news and focussing on what's important to me: my job, paying off debts and not incurring new ones.

Good analogy - those with money problems are very much like addicts, and have enormous trouble exerting self-control when it comes to spending. However when it comes to a solution, it's not easy to know what to do. The banks aren't about…

Simply put fund managers have no idea how to make money and they keep loosing on my behalf and they charge me for their lack of knowledge also and to top it off, it's legal and they are not responsible of course, thats whats happening, so one needs a thick skin. cheers

HeyYa Kbot,

Thank you for offering your friendship.

I see you are interested in South America. We're headed there for a long holiday as soon as the cash is in the bank. If we live to retirement age, Santiago is our top spot for growing old and toothless.

Keep posting!

I am in both property and share trading. Once my share portolio grows a bit more I wll buy some more property.

I have a number of properties throughout Australia, they are nearly at the pay for themselves point. I own my own home.

I use the properties as security for trading money

Insofar as my own home I'm in, and after selling out my investment property a couple of years ago for a meaty profit, I'm also waiting to get in again in a few years. I just pity the 20-somethings, who are a bit stuffed. What about you?

Hello Kbot

As a matter of interest are you in the property market, sitting on the sidelines, waiting to get in, not getting in or sour about not getting in ?

Just curious

I think that it will be more ultruistic than a real money spinner, and so it shoud be. I hope to have my current business just ticking aong nicely by then so that I can do both. I know that being a useful working part of society can be so important to these kids and thats the sort of self esteem that I want to give them, that they are valuable, contributing society members.
