Yes I know and that has a big effect on us because whilst it means we buy cheaper we have a higher bracket house so the 2% is a greater loss to us than in the market we want to buy into

That's good to hear, although the latest stats show Hobart down 2.0% for the quarter:

Aussie house price index falls 0.3%

That's great. Perhaps you should sell now and then hold on for a bit before you buy - if this article is right then we're about to see a 40% fall in house prices!

Yes, things have turned for the worse for retail. Well, if you know what you're doing with share trading, then perhaps that's your next business. I've read a few articles by Will Kraa on CompareShares - he's a full-time trader who runs it as a business. Perhaps you should read some of his stuff.

The last one of his just came out in the free newsletter today:

SMSF negative returns not required

Bandwidth is a good one to chat to about this, as he is an avid trader and will be able to give you some pointers...

Hi Jo, Mary's right, you've got to kill the cards before they kill you. She's also right about us all having an opinion on everything :)

Ouch. You've got to get rid of them before they break you. The interest you must be paying would be killing you. Can you roll them into a personal loan? Or draw on your mortgage to pay them off. Either way you should then cut them up.

Ask for some help on (and read) this discussion:

- Freeze your credit card
- Credit card debt

Or start a discussion of your own. Plenty of people with opinions here, so don't be shy to ask for help ;)

Hey Jo Fox, Tassie is one of those places I've been meaning to get to all my life, but that stretch of water seems to be quite a barrier! I'll get there eventually...

Were the properties in Tassie? How is the market there?

That would hurt, but as Mary says, you probably learnt a stack from it. Are you far from getting out of debt?

Hi Jo, welcome! Business can be a killer sometimes, but you should be proud that you were brave enough to take the risk. Perhaps you could use the skills you learnt from the first business that didn't work to do another one that does work.

The richest people I've ever met all have their own business...
