First Home Buyer After Bankruptcy

Hi everyone,I am not sure if anyone here could give us an insight as to when if ever it will be possible for us to become first home buyers but I'd love to hear other people's experiences.My husband was forced into bankruptcy when we lost his mother to cancer some years ago, he quit his job to care for her, and my salary wasn't enough to support both our debts.
