Hi Aman, I haven't been online for a while, so it's taken me a long time to get back to you...how are things going now? Are you surviving OK with things being so shaky right now?
Well, this time around I have been lucky and am well and truly keeping my head above water. I've been in cash since Sept last year!
After getting burnt badly in the tech wreck (lost $70k when I was only 25) I changed the way I invested and was always on the lookout for danger signs. And there were plenty late last year. I had no idea it was going to get so ugly, but am pretty happy I got out when I did.
I still don't see any reason to get back into the market, as there's just still so much downside risk with companies still to report, the economy deteriorating and people losing their jobs. But I'll be back in again soon enough. I have learnt to be patient when it comes to investing. My intention is not to buy at the bottom, but rather just to be there for a large chunk of the ride up ;)
What is the "bigger financial goal" that you're heading for?
Could be better ;) But getting there. Slow and steady is my game. I figure i just need to protect my nest egg, and it will steadily grow over time. Sure, i'm keen to invest in various things, but I've seen too many people lose to risk losing all mine.
Good strategy - if you can improve all aspects of your life, you're set.
I'm more of a reader and researcher online than a seminar-goer, although I know lots of people who swear by them.
There's so much info on the net if you know how to look for it. You've got to know what you're after. For investing stuff I use CompareShares for the Aussie market, Yahoo! Finance for stock prices and The Wall St Journal for international news. The Motley Fool is also good for US stuff.
Hey Aman, welcome mate. What's the plan to grow your wealth? re you looking to do it through shares, property, moving up the ladder in your career, a business, or something else?
Ah, but that would ruin the fun! The beauty of these sites is that they're kind of a "choose your own adventure" - the bonus is that you can participate in things too. Best bet I reckon is to start a discussion on something you're looking for answers about - there are plenty of "experts" in here who are happy to give their opinion (I'm guilty of this too) ;)
Hi Nikky,
Apologies for the delay, I have been away on hols and a little time off due to illness. All better now. Has your' lender dropped their rates any further since we last communicated? Depending on your' total debt amount, you should…
