Hey all, how are things going with Xmas spending? Are people spending less than usual? Did anyone get cash from the govt? If so, did you pay off debt, buy more than usual, or spend the usual amount.
Times like this make you wonder - do we even need all this "stuff" we think we needed?
As a couple with no children who bought a house last year, we don't receive a cent of the government's A$10.4 billion spending spree. As matter of fact, we help footing the bill, thank you very much.
This Christmas i don't spend money on buying stuff that people will stuff at the back of their wardrobe for the next two years. Although, i spend more on charities and giving people goats, chicken, immunisation and vitamin through World Vision's SMILES program. I've been doing this for the past few years and i don't need to worry about piling up more garbage on our beloved planet (and it's tax deductible... what more could you want?)
While most people agree that we actually don't need "stuff", i think it is in our nature to spend. i had been on shopping hiatus for many months until last week; and a mini carefully-budgeted-shopping-spree did a bit of wonder. now i look like a fresh 25yo again :)
