FatCat's MoneyConfessions - helping you save (& make) money, one click at a time

My daughter decided to opt out of a course with an education department.  We have a debt now & it's been passed onto debt collectors.  She's only 17 and the bill is in her name!  I don't want a bad debt over her head at such a young age!

I signed the form so my daughter can do course.  I asked ed dept. to put it in my name & withdraw funds from my account, there was insufficient funds so it went straight to debt collectors.  I didn't know you can go into bank and ask for an overdraw!  I've agreed to pay them by BPay, which will leave me NO money.  What do Fat Cats suggest I do please?

"Ben, let's not lose the loop. How financiers view bankruptcy is not relevant to the discussion of an individual's capacity to pay something. Bankruptcy is being utilised as a means of evading debt obligations. "

"I agree with the setiment however in reality there's nothing to encourage an individual to make a payment with a Debt Agreement! While technically it's different most financial companies regard it as the same as bankruptcy."
