Just had to take our pet dog to the vet, and my ever-cautious (grown-up) daughter who is visiting over
Christmas asked: 'Do you have insurance against that sort of thing?'
On this occasion, the health concern was minor, but I realised that with pets, taking the approach of just winging it can be foolish.
For any pet owner, the idea of something unthinkable happening to one’s dog or cat is so
unwelcome we don’t always take sensible steps. But when the animal in question has
an accident or develops a serious condition and needs expensive treatment, none
of us wants to hesitate or hedge. Obtaining adequate cover against vet bills is
just common sense. And what about the small print within the policy?
