Mum intend to buy a townhouse for me. She lives in another townhouse (where I'm living with her now) in the same suburb . Will I still be eligible for this money from the government as when I read the small print, it says if she comes to live with me, I may not be eligible, but it will be one of her condition that if she is sick or she's too old then I should take care of her.

Hi Susan,

This is a question that's probably best answered by a property solicitor.

From what I can tell, if your parents "grant" you money, which you subsequently treat as your own when applying for a loan in your own name, then that should be fine - you'd still be eligible for the grant (as long as of course you haven't bought a home in your own name before).

Considering your Mum's condition that she may come to live with you is essentially a future "what-if", then I doubt you'll have any trouble.

But again, find a good property solicitor who can help you resolve these questions!
Thanks very much! One problem is I just accept the offer (whole amount) & bought my dreamt house. Then I realize I should apply a loan in order to qualify for the grant, I'm not greedy, it's just the house needs lots of things to be done that I need the money to replace the stove, the oven, and electrical applicances that I need for a new house. Now I'm living on a mattress!!!

Thanks very much for your advice!

"Ben, let's not lose the loop. How financiers view bankruptcy is not relevant to the discussion of an individual's capacity to pay something. Bankruptcy is being utilised as a means of evading debt obligations. "

"I agree with the setiment however in reality there's nothing to encourage an individual to make a payment with a Debt Agreement! While technically it's different most financial companies regard it as the same as bankruptcy."
