FatCat's MoneyConfessions - helping you save (& make) money, one click at a time

Seeing Lisa's page, I got thinking - where would everyone most like to visit if they had the time and money?

Mine would be Nepal, Tibet, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka - that area of the world. So different to the world I have grown up in and a smorgasbord of food, culture, nature and experiences to be had.

Mine would be all through Australia.

Having lived and travelled overseas I am convinced we live in the blessed country.

There is so much to see in Australia that travel in Australia will fill out the rest of my life
I'd certainly like to see more of Australia - we were constantly on the road, travelling when I was growing up... 4WD, aluminium dingy and a tent or pop-up van...brilliant experience and would like to keep that up as I age (gracefully!).

Apart from that - i'll be really boring and say Western Europe. I'm a big fan of European history - it is, after all, our motherland. A chain reaction of historical events across Europe lead to England settling Australia. We could just as well have been speaking Portugese, Spanish or Dutch!!
Hello

My motto is like the Ulysses bike club "to grow old disgracefully" which is more to say I will do it my way :-)

A Winebago with good cooking facilities and a satelite link for my share trading. then I can visit all my investment properties :-)
Ha! Love it! I'm not sure I should be doing that - I've some of my youth disgracefully!!

Having said that, there's probably a little more grace in a Winebago, good cooking facilities and a satellite link than the time-consuming, messy, dirty/muddy, insect ridden camping option. :-)

NB. The Winebago does sound like a better option in the years. Small steps, maybe I'll hire a campervan on the next trip.
Speaking of disgracefull

I am a baby boomer there are parts of the sixties and early seventies I have little recollection of :-)

BTW

We still go camping and you should see the looks when we pull up at a camping ground in the SAAB convertible and unpack the gear from the back seat and boot.

Driving through the Australian Alps, in a convertible, during spring is an amazing experience. Remember my car is built for Sweden with a great heater and heated seats

Then we take out the meals I have prepared before and vacuum packed, something like lemon chilli prawns :-)

Roughing it

Travel is adventure, regardless of where it is experienced. So enjoy the journey because the final destination is death
So true.

I guess the first part of our life is to experience, then later... we reap the rewards we have earned over time.

Perhaps I'm on the cusp.

Every person in the camp grounds would aspire to be "you two".

Bring it on! ... where's my Winebago?!
Winebago with great kitchen, rack for the Harley, Satelite communications, Air con, Queen size bed.

Any other suggestions :-)

Oh to grow old disgracefully.
Australia in a Winnebago would be my dream trip too. I have been wanting this since I arrive here years ago. Just no time!
Western Europe would be perfect, although I'm not so sure about Australia. Seen heaps of it and I don't really count seeing your own country as "travelling". I'd put it in a whole other category of "holiday". No cultural differences, language problems, currency changes, food, and all the rest of it that goes into making up a travelling experiences.
I don't know what parts of Australia you have been to but there are many parts that are so vastly different in so many ways.

Having been a number of places in Australia and not seen cultural differences you must have been staying in very sanitised locations as that has not been my experience.

BTW Australia is a vast continent as well as a country

currency changes are logistic problems as opposed to experiences and can be pretty well fixed with a credit card

Australia has probably the one of widest diversity in foods available anywhere.

I would love to know what your and others definition of "travelling" is
