I came across the interesting video on the NY Times website about designers creating green cars that not only reduce emissions, but also have you stylin' while you're doing it:

Designers Create Green Vehicles

This should just about put the final nail in the Hummer's coffin:

The Hummer's Dead End?

What about you guys - would you race out and buy one of these?

Hummers are simply awful things.

Big, unwieldy, ungraceful - not to mention terribly wasteful. The sooner they're gone, the better!

I'm over in Europe at the moment, and you just don't see vehicles that big - everyone's going smaller and smaller.

We've just arrived back in Glasgow, and petrol is 1-pound-20 a litre. That's about $2.50 Australian! It would be crazy to buy a Hummer. Many British still like their Range Rovers, but I think they're getting thinner on the ground!

The lists can be found in the government's Green Vehicle Guide at www.greenvehicleguide.gov.au.
Nice work Bandwidth.

Now, I know a lot of us like the idea of owning a "green" car, but in reality we kinda like our current car, and besides, "green" cars are just way too expensive so we may as well wait a while until the price comes down.

How do we counter this (natural) reaction? People want to do the right thing, but the economic reality of forking out lots of dough now comes into play, despite the fact that with current petrol prices over the medium term it will probably be cheaper to run these (I have no stats to back this up - anyone?) over a 5 year period, and also they'll have a much higher resale value.

It's a Catch-22 because prices won't come down unless people start buying them in mass, which will give the car companies more reason to produce more at a lower cost.

What can we do to improve this. I heard something about Government rebates??? Is this true?

"Ben, let's not lose the loop. How financiers view bankruptcy is not relevant to the discussion of an individual's capacity to pay something. Bankruptcy is being utilised as a means of evading debt obligations. "

"I agree with the setiment however in reality there's nothing to encourage an individual to make a payment with a Debt Agreement! While technically it's different most financial companies regard it as the same as bankruptcy."
