FatCat's MoneyConfessions - helping you save (& make) money, one click at a time

Has anyone done any of these 'think and grow rich' courses that are so prolific at the moment? Do they work or are they just raking in money for the organizers? I'd love to hear about your experiences - positive or negative.

I think in general they are positive or at least I would like to believe they are. I recently attended one of these events at a hotel near Darling Harbour and the organisers certainly have provided some really practical information about how to create income on the Internet. I have in the past listened in on conversations of people I was acquianted with, making $2000 per month doing the very same thing that we were taught at this event, but I didn't really understand how it all worked at the time. And, because I was not aligned with my purpose, I did not bother to find out until now.

This old knowledge reinforces my believe that these organisers are the real deal. During the course of this event, we were provided with step by step instructions as to how to put it all together and make it happen. Although I am still putting together my website, I have faith that this will work once it is finished. I know I will be teaching my family and friends the same thing when I start to generate some serious cash. I will be definitey be doing my part in imparting this knowledge.

Although having such a strong believe and faith in the information provided by the origanisers, I still have, at some minute level, reservations about their underlying motivation. I mean, there is no such thing as free? Or is there? I believe everything balances out eventually. We were advised at the seminar that they do not profit from selling books nor do they benefit in anyway by providing us with this poweful information. The organisers are strong believers and practioners of giving first before receiving. I guess we can all learn from this.

Although sometimes I would pick up on some discrepancies in what they say in the seminar and their honesty becomes a little suspicious. But I narrowed this down to the fact that they need to sell to the audience at some point during the seminar and they would need to glorify the stats or figures they are providing to bring us "to the door". I would prefer and appreciate if they were more bona fide about their claims. This would definitely get me "through the door"!

There are many other seminars I have attended in the past few years and have to say the organiser of this "think and grow rich" event would probably be the only one that appeals to me (thus far) as they appear to be the least salesy.
Ah, but sometimes less salesy is really more salesly, they're just better at it...
I stopped reading the responses on the first page since they are all similar.

My only question is: Are those people here who are being negative or cynical about these 'think and grow rich' seminar actually rich?

By rich i mean being financially independent and spiritually prosperous.

If not, why does your opinion matter?
Hi Bytta
A very interesting question. As one of the 'negative and cynical' I am not financially independent. But I would say this is no barrier to me being able to have an opinion on this and other topics. The destination is important but so is the journey and the views along the way. I am working towards a measure of financial independence but are far from it. I do spend a lot of time on self growth but I am not going to touch on being 'spiritually prosperous' as we would need to establish criteria for what that actually means.

In one sense opinions within this forum do not matter as they are only opinions and are put out here for people to agree with and use or disagree and not use to whatever extent they choose to. From another perspective opinions on this forum may matter. Fatcat *is* a social networking site where people can get together and share perspectives and learn from each others experiences and opinions even if some of them are rejected along the way.
Hi Jacquesk,

I agree, this is free country anyway.
It's just that some people like to dish out opinions without proof or experience and just copy what other people think of that issue.

People who trick other people into paying them a sum of money in return for fraudulent get rich quick scheme are just as useless as people who do not do anything about building their own prosperity because of fear of other people's opinion and challenges.

I have been to a few investment and wealth creation seminars and some are excellent, while some others are mediocre.
By applying their strategies, i managed to more than double my income, bought a house, got married and i live very happily knowing that the best is yet to come.

People get rich not because they attend seminars or read books, but because they APPLY what they learn from the books or seminars.

For people who have been to investment seminars but got "cold" afterwards, guess what... it happens to everybody. The difference is those who are persistent and keen to apply what they have learnt will achieve their goals while others will stay where they were before and claim that "the stupid seminar doesnt work for me".

In the end, you are the one who will make it or break it.

And along the way, it's nice to get some helps from people who are already where you want to be.
I agree that it is up to the individual to take what they will out of these seminars - and life in general really. I can see how they could inspire people to get more out of life, and would be great if people were to apply some of the things they learn from the seminars/courses/etc.

But this is a big IF, and I think that many of the people who go to these things have a poor attitude towards making money or being successful in their lives, thinking that there is some kind of "secret" to it. The secret is in their own attitude towards things.

I agree with Bytta that you are the one who will make it or break it - so unless the individual can change his/her attitude, then this kind of thing is nothing but a waste of money.

Nah, unless they are free, they are just a waste of time (sometimes more precious than moula, moula $$$) & hard-earnt money.
Nowadays, you have access to all the free info you can ever need at your fingertips, anywhere - anytime.
If you think that paying others $100 or more can reap you greater benefits, you're dreamin, on the hand - if you have had sucess in this field - well done!
Personally, I wouldn't be bothered time-wise with young children & Alzheimer Parents to attend to!
